The Franchise Academy

Persistence

Many times, overnight success is 20 years in the making. Malcolm Gladwell, in his book, Outliers, talks about 10,000 hours of practice before becoming professional or “making it.” Bo Eason, former NFL player and Superbowl Champ, one of my mentors, says that practice is the loneliest time in life. But your relationship with practice is what makes you or breaks you.

I want to share a quick six-minute interview with you. It’s with another mentor of mine, and just a great gentleman, Steven Pressfield. Steven has written more than two dozen books, notably The Legend of Bagger Vance and my favorite, The War of Art, which I very, highly recommend. I am also proud to say that Mr. Pressfield endorsed my book, Franchise Savvy. Please don’t hold that against him.

Mr. Pressfield talks about the fact that he wrote for more than 20 years before making money at it. He didn’t get a break until the age of 52. I think the interview is really worth watching.

Enjoy!
